The Beginning of the Seven-Year Tribulation: Covenant, False Peace, and the Expansion of Global Deception
After the church is raptured, the Antichrist will not immediately appear as an obvious tyrant. His first task will be to win the trust of the world as a peacemaker, a resolver of crises, and a restorer of international order. Daniel 8:25 already indicates that “by peace shall destroy many”; Daniel 9:27 further says that he shall “confirm the covenant with many for one week.”
This point is of the utmost importance. The end-time order does not move directly from chaos to overt tyranny; it first moves from chaos into false peace, and from false peace into open desecration. The world will imagine that it has finally found a leader capable of balancing religious conflict, stabilizing the Middle East, integrating the global economy, and restoring geopolitical order. In reality, however, it will be receiving the one who will later openly usurp the place of God. This is precisely why “Peace and safety” in Scripture is not a word of consolation, but a sign that judgment is drawing near.
At this stage, the existence of the Third Temple, Israel’s religious arrangements, Jerusalem’s international status, and the broader security structure of the Middle East will together form a system that appears reasonable but is in fact profoundly dangerous. The world will not think that it is embracing Antichrist; it will think that it is embracing peace, order, and the future. Herein lies the terror of end-time deception: it triumphs not by obvious evil, but by false good moralized, institutionalized, and civilized.
The people of God, therefore, must never be deceived by the world’s longing for “peace.” Not every peace comes from God. Every scheme that rejects Jesus Christ yet claims to build a global order of reconciliation can only become the antechamber of Antichrist. True peace must come from The Prince of Peace; apart from Him, every covenant will ultimately become preparation for betrayal.
