The Glorious Return of Jesus Christ: From the Mount of Olives to the Final Victory at Armageddon
The end of the seven-year tribulation does not come through the world’s self-repair, nor through successful international diplomacy, but through the personal and glorious return of Jesus Christ. He does not come secretly to receive the church, for that has already taken place before the tribulation; rather, He comes openly, visibly, and in power and great glory to judge the nations. Matthew 24:29–31 describes “the sign of the Son of man in heaven” and declares that “they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
Zechariah 14:3–4 says even more specifically that “his feet shall stand upon the mount of Olives.” This is critically important, for it shows that the Second Coming is not an abstract religious symbol, but a divine intervention in real geography, real history, and real war. The same Jesus Christ whom the world rejected, whom men crucified, and whom Israel has temporarily not recognized, will return to earth as the true King.
At the same time, Revelation 16:13–16 indicates that the nations will be gathered at Armageddon, while Revelation 19:11–21 portrays Jesus Christ descending as “King of kings, and Lord of lords,” defeating the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies. Here the deepest truth of human history is revealed: every political order built apart from God ultimately moves into hostility against God’s Anointed. As Psalm 2:1–6 says, the nations and peoples unite in a “vain thing,” standing “against the LORD, and against his anointed.”
Armageddon, therefore, is not merely a geopolitical conflict; it is the summary of the entire history of human rebellion against God. The nations believe they are pursuing sovereignty, order, and strategic interests; in reality, they are gathering themselves against Jesus Christ. Yet this war is not truly symmetrical. The moment Jesus Christ appears, all the authority of false kings, the legitimacy of false peace, the appeal of false miracles, and the pretended sovereignty of false gods will collapse instantly before the true King.
