A stunning allegation emerged this week that has once again ignited public distrust toward America’s intelligence agencies. According to congressional testimony and multiple reports circulating through national media, CIA personnel allegedly removed sensitive files tied to MK-Ultra and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy from offices connected to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Fox News host Jesse Watters went so far as to air the headline: “CIA RAIDS TULSI GABBARD’S OFFICE.”

Whether the term “raid” ultimately proves accurate remains to be seen. Some reports suggest the incident involved an internal seizure of documents during a dispute over declassification authority rather than a dramatic forced entry. But regardless of the precise details, the story has already exposed something deeper within the American psyche: millions of Americans no longer instinctively trust the intelligence community.
And frankly, history explains why.
For decades, citizens were mocked for questioning the conduct of intelligence agencies. Yet many of the things once dismissed as paranoid conspiracy theories were later proven true. MK-Ultra was real. The CIA did engage in illegal mind-control experiments involving drugs and psychological manipulation.
This matters because trust, once shattered, is difficult to restore.
Now we are being told that files tied to some of the most controversial chapters in modern American history may have been removed from the oversight of the nation’s top intelligence official. If true, Americans are left asking obvious questions.
Who authorized it?
Why were the files removed?
What information is still being protected from public view?
And perhaps most importantly: who truly controls the intelligence apparatus of the United States?
These questions are no longer confined to fringe corners of the internet. They are now being openly discussed on national television.
From a biblical perspective, Christians should not be shocked when governments and powerful institutions operate in secrecy, manipulate narratives, or seek to preserve power. Scripture repeatedly warns that fallen men lust after authority and often use it deceptively.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” — Jeremiah 17:9
Throughout history, empires have hidden corruption behind patriotic language and promises of security. The modern age is no different. Technology has only increased the ability of governments to surveil, manipulate, and shape public perception on a massive scale.
The growing conflict between elected officials and entrenched intelligence agencies reveals a deeper issue within the American system itself. Increasingly, many citizens feel there exists a permanent bureaucracy operating beyond meaningful accountability — a structure with enough power to resist presidents, shape narratives, classify information indefinitely, and potentially influence the direction of the nation regardless of elections.
That perception alone is dangerous for a republic.
If intelligence agencies can independently determine what information the public is allowed to know, interfere with declassification efforts, and operate behind layers of secrecy shielded from oversight, then Americans must begin asking uncomfortable but necessary questions.
How much power do alphabet agencies like the CIA really have?
And perhaps even more unsettling:
Who watches the watchers?
Excellent
